The Walrus. Until a few hundred years ago, the Walrus was the stuff of myth and legend, living at the distant edge of the known world. A hairy whale from the far north that hauled itself up mountains using its gigantic tusks, to graze on the dew covered grass before rolling back down again. They remained a mystery even after Euporeans began hunting them, their mystique fuelled and marketed for commercial purposes as various bits of them were rendered, ground and fashioned into trinkets, sold in the same aisle as unicorn horns. Aisle 6. Near the miso. I’ve never met anyone that collects sculpted Walrus penis bones, but there must be loads of you out there… That mystique quickly vanishes when you see them fighting. Upsettingly violent. Makes me want to write poetry for some reason, but I will withhold on this occasion.
