The Giant Pacific Octopus. Thank heavens Octopuses have such a short life span. Were it not for this, they would without question rule the planet. They have three hearts, nine brains (each tentacle literally has a mind of its own), use tools and can squeeze through any hole big enough to get their eyeball through it. Humanity has been spared by the fact that the Octochaps will often get eaten after doing the dirty, but if they do escape their hungry lovers clutches, they die shortly after anyway. Phew. My feelings on the matter are backed up by the fact that an Octopus once tried to start a fight with me in an aquarium in La Rochelle.
