Foo dogs. Or Fu Dogs. Or Fo Dogs. I can’t work out what they’re supposed to be called. What I do know is that they’re not even dogs but mythical guardian lions. It’s also hard to say where they originated, but it’s probable they trotted along the silk road from India to China and beyond, as lions have a rich Buddhist history and started to appear protecting shrines and temples as they popped up across the area. In fact, I’ve just read that the Buddhist snow lion has a lot in common with the western unicorn… guys, I know you love a unicorn… Anyway, this pair are a manifestation of yin and yang, male and female, life and death, and symbolize prosperity, success and guardianship. All that kind of stuff. Feng Shui is quite particular about where you should place them. I, on the other hand, would simply suggest you place them in your house.
