The Hoopoe. So named after it’s soft, far carrying song ‘poo-poo-poo’. Which surely should make it the Hoopoo but, unfortunately, I am not as yet in charge of such things. Perhaps they constantly chant ‘poo-poo-poo’ because they don’t clean their nests, and their offsprings droppings mean they quickly become foul and smelly. Sure you could frame it like that. Or maybe their children also steadfastly refuse to flush the f#@***g toilet and should take some responsibility for their own bums because Mummy and Daddy are BUSY and TIRED. There is oodles of folklore around them. Good and bad… and apparently they’re the animal responsible for the phrase ‘A little bird told me…’ after informing King Solomon about his future queen. But I’m not entirely sure we know if he was real or not, so make of that what you will.
